All my surgery day fears are now in the past! I had a bit of panic and anxiety Sunday night, but woke up Monday ready to tackle surgery day.

The day started super early for us, we had about an hour drive to the hospital and sign in time was 5:45am 😳 It was very quiet in my house that morning, I think mostly because it was freaking early and maybe I was in a bit of shock that the day was finally here! I did a final pre-surgery weigh in and I lost a total of 15lbs in 13 days 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I honestly had an amazing experience at the hospital. The entire team and staff members were extremely attentive and communicated so well with me. I had this very surreal peace over me, so thank you to everyone who prayed for me and sent positive thoughts my way!

Once it was time to be brought back to the OR, the team came in with a “forget everything shot”. I have so say I didn’t forget anything and remember everything leading up to the operating room, but that shot certainly took the edge off 😉

The surgery, from what I’m told went fantastic. I apparently also had a hiatal hernia that they repaired that for me while they were in there. Score! I basically got a great 2 for 1 special 😂

I was in and out of lucidness pretty much all day. My pain was manageable and I was able to get some good walking and water intake in 🙌🏼

My surgery started at 8:15am and was 40 minutes long. I was discharged same day and home by 5:30pm.

So far things are going great! I’m very sore, (thank goodness for pain meds)! I feel extremely fortunate to be able to drink water, drink my protein and get in some good walks. I know that this road to recovery isn’t going to be easy and I need to take it one day at a time.
